It's back to work tomorrow but we wanted to squeeze in one last festive celebration.
Being an Anglo-French household we couldn't let the tradition of the galette des rois pass us by. Celebrated in France on the first Sunday of the year, it involves the baking of a special cake in which one figurine is hidden. The person who gets the slice containing it is crowned king.
Nina was working on some photographs so I put on the pinny and with our little one got to work on creating a right royal delight!
It's very rare that I cook but I have to say that we pulled it off! Virginia has sampled many a galette des rois over the years but she admitted that ours was up there with the best!
As for the king, that title went to our little one. The fact we forgot to add the figurine and added it at the last minute with a patch of pastry to cover up the hole meant we know where the winning slice was! She was over the moon.
