China from China
If you think that an exhibition about china is something you should keep on the back burner for when Granny comes to visit, think again. A couple of weeks ago, after climbing up the Wills Memorial Tower, I set off for a visit to one of my favourite cultural hangouts, Bristol Museum and Art Gallery. I'd seen posters of the Ahead of The Curve exhibition, and I remember how blown away I was by the the Ming vase that the British Museum had lent to the Bristol Museum a few months ago, but for some funny reason, I never thought about porcelain making as a form of modern art. That was before this exhibition. With exhibits like Wan Liya's Birds' Twitter and Fragrance of Flowers, Wu Hao's Drunk Pot Series, Shelly Xue’s angel wings made up of hundreds of tubes of glass, and my personal favourites, Zhuang Xiaowei’s Sacrifice, Shao Changzong's Low Flying, and the amazing six piece Dreamer by Shao Changzong's, this exhibition will leave you asking for some more and you might even feel like signing up to that pottery course you've talked about for so long :) The exhibition comes to an end on Sunday 1 March, so don't miss it!
