Of pumpkin and pie!
Our little one was very excited by Halloween but the pumpkin that we bought for the occasion sat on our kitchen floor for many weeks. With the dark nights drawing it though we broke with tradition and carved it in November! She is now at that age where she likes to do everything herself so with supervision we let her design the spooky face and proudly armed with her carving implements went to work on Mr Pumpkin. As the results below show, she did pretty well! We don't like throwing food away so unlike many pumpkin carvers we actually ate the inside! The juicy pumpkin went perfectly with some yummy pies kindly provided by legendary pie brand Pieminister and one of Bristol's biggest business success stories. We were sent a selection of pies to try include a couple from the brand's Christmas range. Our little one tucked into Merry Berry with its festive turkey, bacon and cranberries, while me and Nina, being vegetarian, dived into Christingle with honest nut parsnip, cheddar cheese and chestnuts. The little one's feedback on the meat course was very positive and we're happy to say that we loved the veggie option! Wishing you all a rather belated Happy Halloween! Words:Dan / Pics: Nina
